## Why Not all information should be treated equally. Each requires its properties, headers, and workflows to best organize, process, and integrate into its larger [[Systems]]. ## What You can see the different kinds of notes I have in my vault with [[USV Glossary]]. But they can mainly be classified into two main types: ### Types #### Process-based *First read [[Kanban Board]]* Some notes have a clear, finished form or outcome to work towards. For example, - Action-based notes like [[Projects]] or YouTube videos are finished when they are completed - Sources of information like [[Inputs]] are finished when we have extracted the ideas into our own words and applied them to relevant projects I have a status property in these notes to acknowledge this process-based approach. The most common set of stages is [[Basic Status Values]]: - 🟥 Not Started - 🟨 In progress - 🟩 Finished - ⬛️ Archived The meaning slightly changes based on the type of note, and some notes have more statuses like [[Inputs]] that also has an extra one for 🟧. You can see [[My Inputs Workflow#Status]] for an example of the procedures associated with each stage. When a note is in a certain process stage, I know what specific steps or parts of the note template to use. The steps I follow to help complete it are different based on the workflows I have for each note type. The black status is universal, though, and is just for archived ones that I've paused but aren't necessarily done. This is to separate them from the active ones. Eventually, when it reaches the finished stage, we rarely return to these notes, but it's still important to keep them for future inspiration or to know the source of a certain idea. But sometimes, there is no concrete "Finished" criteria for a note, which is where we can turn to… [[#Idea-based]] #### Idea-based *First read [[Evergreen Notes]]* Notes that use this status continue to grow through the different stages of [[Evergreen Notes#Status]]. This is meant for idea-based notes that will naturally continue to grow and evolve as we learn from new sources or thoughts. We can keep track of the development of these notes in [[My Greenhouse]]. Notes that follow this include: - [[Conceptual notes]] - [[Maps of Content (MOC)]] - [[Thoughts]] - [[Writings]] - Any other note that doesn't have an end result ## How Creating a new note can be seen in [[Creating and modifying notes]] To create a new kind of note type, you can look at [[Create a new note type]] ### Visual differentiation I use the [[Supercharged Links Plugin]] to have the emoji prefixes before the note depending on its type
